3 Tips To Help Your Pet Live Longer

Our rescue, MaxOver the years as we've incorporated new preventative health care practices into our lives, we've been thrilled to see the positive benefits in our energy level and ability to fight off sickness.  Sometime along the way it occurred to us that these practices should extend to our other beloved family members, our dogs. After all, we want to give our pups the best chance at a long and happy life. The following list includes 3 easy items to incorporate into any pet's current diet to improve health and vitality.

3 Tips To Help Your Pet Live Longer:

 1. Green Mush
via HealthforceGreen Mush is a superfood product for companion animals that we discovered through Health Force Nutritionals. Green Mush is extremely absorbable and filled with thousands of phytonutrients, protein and amino acids.

According to Healthforce, "Green Mush came into being as a way to get the most complete, highest quality superfoods into our own precious animal family members. It was designed with the following goals: extending lifespan, increasing energy, enhancing overall health and quality of life."

This green powder can be mixed with warm water and added to any meal or served as a healthy snack. Our dogs love it!

Green Mush can be purchased online at the Health Force site.

2. Shredded Organic Veggies

via uncannygoodnessThis tip came to us via our accupuncturist, who also works with small animals. She suggested adding a mix of shredded organic zuchinni and carrots to our dog's meals each morning. This provides an extra dose of vitamins and minerals.

The dogs love it and it's easy to prepare. If you have a salad shooter you can easily prepare a few days worth of veggies for your pets to enjoy.

3. Organic Pumpkin Puree

via onelovelylifeOur final tip was recommended to us by our vet as a way to get more fiber into our dog's diet. We give a few spoonfuls at each meal. The key is to either puree your own pumpkin, or buy the organic canned pumpkin puree at any natural foods grocer. *Make sure not to buy the pumpkin pie mix because this may contain spices that are dangerous to pets.

Pumpkin is also known to help with both constipation and diahhrea. It is also a good weight loss tool in overweight pets. Just substitute some pumpkin in place of kibble and the dog will still feel full because of the fiber in the pumpkin. It's also a good source of Vitamin E, Magnesium, Phosphorus & Potassium.
