New Year's Ritual 2011

Every year we like to take some time on New Year's Eve to reflect and set intentions for the New Year. The following is our process for 2011. It's a compilation of our own thoughts and some powerful questions we picked up from some of our favorite authors. We thought we'd share in hopes that it may provide an opportunity for others to reflect on the blessings of 2011 and provide a springboard for setting intentions for a meaningful 2012. Happy New Year!

New Year's Ritual 2011

  • What are the things you value and appreciate most about what occurred in the past year? Make a gratitude list of the action steps, changes, accomplishments and achievements of 2011.
  • What do you NOT  want to carry into 2012? What you would need to let go of and leave in 2011 so that you can feel the gratitude and appreciation for being you. Make a list of the thoughts, beliefs, habits, addictions, grudges, resentments or harsh internal dialogues that are robbing you of peace and joy right now.
  • Imagine yourself one year from now and write a list of the actions, changes, and breakthroughs you’d like to be celebrating next year at this time.
  • What feelings would these actions, changes, and breakthroughs provide?
  • What intentions would best support bringing these feelings into fruition? List the new thoughts, habits, and practices that would make these feelings a daily reality.
  • Pick one action step to take in the first 24 to 48 hours of the New Year to demonstrate your commitment to allowing a new experience to emerge in 2012.
